Congratulations! You have picked the hardiest and most versatile of the houseplant kingdom. Sansevieria will help purify the air in your home, as well as release oxygen into the air at night. Sansevieria is native to tropical regions of West Africa, but has found a new home as a mainstay in popular houseplant collections. There are over 70 different species of Sansevieria, of which we carry four (common snake plant, Starfish Sansevieria, Shark’s Fin Sansevieria, and Wild Sansevieria).

LIGHT: Sansevieria prefer medium light, however they are very versatile, and will tolerate bright or low light. Be careful about bright direct light, it can easily burn your plants. To avoid this type of light place your plant at least 5 feet away from a window.

HUMIDITY: Sansevieria Snake plants prefer dry arid climates; however they will tolerate areas of high humidity such as a bathroom, or near a kitchen sink.

WATERING: Sansevieria prefers to stay on the drier side. Let soil completely dry out between watering. Sansevieria can quickly develop root rot if they are overwatered. Watering could be as infrequent as once a month. In the winter months watering should happen less frequently than in warmer months.

RE-POTTING: Consider repotting Every 2 to 3 years in a pot approximately 2 inches wider in circumference than previous pot. Moving your plant into too big of a pot can lead to overwatering, and put stress on the root ball.

OTHER CARE:

Overwatering can lead to root rot and ultimately the demise of your plant. Signs of overwatering include: yellowing of leaves, wilting of plant despite having wet soil, brown dead leaves have too much moisture and are soft and not crispy.

• Make sure pot has drainage holes in order to prevent overwatering.
• This plant thrives with low water and neglect. Don’t love it to death!
• Keep plant between 70 & 90°F
