  • warm season perennial also called
    Nutgrass
  • most common species are Yellow and Purple Nutsedge
  • very aggressive tuber (nut or nutlets) root system
  • after one year each tuber can create up
    to 2000 plants and up to 6000 more
    tubers
  • can grow from 6″ to 2.5′ tall
  • control of this weed is very difficult
  • Recommended Product:  Hi-Yield Nutsedge Control (a selective post emergent herbicide) or Sedgehammer

BARNYARD GRASS
(ECHINOCHLOA CRUS-GALLI)

  • warm season annual
  • fibrous root system
  • can grow 1′-5′ tall
  • plant matures in 60 days and can
    produce up to 40.000   seeds
  • reacts to both pre and post emergents

CRABGRASS

  • Warm season annual
  • Mat forming
  • Height to 3′
  • Leaves are 1/4″ to 1/2″ wide and 2″- 6″
    long
  • Crabgrass can be found in moist, warm
    soils where  lawns are thin or mowed too
    short.

DANDELION
(TARAXICUM OFFICINALE)

  • cool season perennial
  • reproduces by seeds and root pieces
  • has a long sturdy taproot
  • the flowers are yellow and up to 2″ in
    diameter on up to  20″ long stems
  • the flowers ripen to become puffballs
    of seeds from Spring until Fall
  • reacts to some but not all
    pre-emergents and most post
    emergents

  • plant is prostrate and mat forming

  • found mostly in heavy compacted soils

  • short multi-branched taproot
  • can grow to 5′ tall
  • each plant is capable of producing

  • has a shallow taproot and grows upright
    to 5′
  • reproduces by seed

  • occurs in wet compacted soils in cooler

  • prefers disturbed soils areas
